My path to real estate is anything but typical — and I think that's exactly what makes me a better agent for my clients.

I'm Joe Chapman, a Metro Detroit REALTOR® with the Z Real Estate Team at eXp Realty, specializing in Oakland County. My background spans construction, industrial controls, and sales, and before joining the Z Team, I spent a year working directly with Mark Z on commercial properties and residential flips. That hands-on experience gave me an insider's understanding of property value, renovation potential, and what it genuinely takes to get a deal done right.

I actually took my real estate courses and exam over 20 years ago but never practiced. It wasn't until I dove deep into real estate investing content — and eventually went to work in the field — that I realized this is where I was meant to be. I've been all in ever since.

Today, I work with sellers, first-time buyers, and investors across Metro Detroit. My diverse professional background means I can genuinely connect with clients at every income level — I've worked in the executive suite and in the trenches, and I bring that full-range perspective to every transaction. My clients consistently tell me they appreciate my clear communication, my follow-through, and my ability to keep things moving smoothly — even when things get complicated behind the scenes.

Integrity and honesty are at the core of how I work — almost to a fault. I'll always tell you what you need to hear, because that's what real advocacy looks like.

When I'm not helping clients navigate the market, you'll find me on the ice playing hockey, tending my garden, or browsing the Farmington Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. I've been married for 23 years, have three wonderful kids, and am proud to call Farmington Hills home. And if you ever need a dinner recommendation, Mama Mia's in Redford is a Chapman family weekly tradition — their pizza is non-negotiable.
